Cost

The cost for this trip varies with the details, but is estimated at $2500 - $4500 pp for two or more people. If there are at least two climbers this can be custom arranged for a cost comparable to what many companies charge for trips with set dates and itineraries.

This is the "ground cost" which includes:

  • Lodging in Quito for the duration (which remains available to anyone in the group, in case you wish to stay in Quito due to illness or some other reason)
  • Refuge (hut) costs, parks fees when spending nights away from Quito
  • Group and technical climbing equipment
  • All ground transportation for the climbs - jeep, horse, bus, etc
  • Food while outside of Quito on climbs
  • Guide services
  • Travel/planning advice (visas, medical concerns, state department consular updates for Ecuador, etc)
  • Local assistance in Quito as required

Costs not included:

  • Airfare
  • Out-of-pocket expenses, primarily in Quito (meals while in the city, bus fares for your own sightseeing, etc)
  • Airport departure tax
  • Medical, travel or rescue insurance (All three can be covered inexpensively with short-term specialized policies, the third can also be covered through membership in the American Alpine Club)
