Cost
The cost for this trip varies with the details, but is estimated at $2500 - $4500 pp for two or more people.
If there are at least two climbers this can be custom arranged for a cost comparable to what many companies charge for trips with set dates and itineraries.
This is the "ground cost" which includes:
- Lodging in Quito for the duration (which remains available to anyone in
the group, in case you wish to stay in Quito due to illness or some
other reason)
- Refuge (hut) costs, parks fees when spending nights away from Quito
- Group and technical climbing equipment
- All ground transportation for the climbs - jeep, horse, bus, etc
- Food while outside of Quito on climbs
- Guide services
- Travel/planning advice (visas, medical concerns, state department consular updates for Ecuador, etc)
- Local assistance in Quito as required
Costs not included:
- Airfare
- Out-of-pocket expenses, primarily in Quito (meals while in the city,
bus fares for your own sightseeing, etc)
- Airport departure tax
- Medical, travel or rescue insurance (All three can be covered
inexpensively with short-term specialized policies, the third can also be
covered through membership in the American Alpine Club)
